The Trust Fund has been established
to enable the Company to encourage and support a wide range of projects which
will benefit children and young people up to the age of 30. For the time being
the Trustees have resolved to direct the income towards supporting entry to further
education of students who, without that support, would be unlikely to take up
a place. Applications will be considered from students who are attending, or have attended, senior secondary schools within the Edinburgh area, and who wish to further or
continue their education at one of Edinburgh's degree-awarding establishments.
Pre-University
applications should be supported by the Head Teacher of the secondary school
attended. Applications from university students should be
supported by a member of the Faculty and/or Administration Office.
| |
- They must be under 30 years old
- They must have attended a senior secondary school within the Edinburgh
area
- They must have been offered a place at, or are attending, one of
Edinburgh's degree-awarding establishments.
|
The degree-awarding establishments are:
| |
- The University of Edinburgh
- Heriot-Watt University
- Napier University
- Queen Margaret University College
|
Completed application forms with supporting
documentation should be sent to The Secretary, The Merchant Company, 22 Hanover
Street, Edinburgh EH2 2EP.
Additional
copies of the application form will be made available on request to The Secretary.
The merit of all applications will be adjudged in consultation
with the Universities and University College. It must be appreciated that the
availability of funding
is limited and grants will be made at the discretion of the Trustees to the
most needy.
